Venango County, PA: Probate and Estate Real Estate Resources

If your loved one lived in Venango County, the estate is opened with the Venango County Register of Wills in Franklin. Here is what you need to know, plus how I can help with the house.

What to bring when opening an estate

• The original will (if there is one) and a certified death certificate
• Photo ID for the person applying to be executor or administrator
• Names and addresses of heirs and beneficiaries
• A payment method for filing fees (ask the office for the current fee schedule)

Check with the Register of Wills or your attorney for the exact list in your situation.

Selling a Venango County house during probate

Once letters testamentary or letters of administration are granted, the personal representative generally has authority to act for the estate. Before you sign a listing agreement, confirm with your estate attorney that you have authority to sell. I can provide a date-of-death market analysis for the inheritance tax return and a plan for cleanout, repairs, or an as-is sale.

Communities I serve in Venango County include Franklin, Oil City, Cranberry Township, Polk, Emlenton, and Sugarcreek.
